Testing And Quality Inspection

Hydraulic power packs and oilfield hydraulic systems are inspected and tested according to the approved hydraulic circuit, operating requirements, and component pressure ratings.
 
Testing and inspection may include:

  • Pressure and flow-performance testing
  • Functional testing of pumps, motors, valves and controls
  • External leakage and circuit pressure-holding checks
  • Pressure settings and relief-valve operation
  • Variable-pump, load-sensing, and pressure-compensated control response
  • Proportional-control response, where applicable
  • Hydraulic sequencing, interlocking and emergency-shutdown verification
  • Cooling-system and oil-temperature monitoring
  • Electrical control-panel and PLC sequence verification
  • Sensor, transmitter and safety-interlock testing
  • Operational noise and abnormal-vibration checks
  • Overall circuit and system-performance testing​

Pressure testing is carried out within the approved ratings of the installed pumps, valves, filters, accumulators, pipes, hoses, instruments, and other components. Higher-pressure testing of individual components or circuits is performed separately according to their approved ratings and testing procedures.

Fluid cleanliness and contamination control may include the following:

  • Cleaning of reservoirs, pipelines and manifold passages
  • System flushing before final testing
  • Suction strainers and pressure-line, return-line, or offline filtration
  • Use of filtered hydraulic oil during assembly and testing
  • Filter-clogging indication and particle monitoring, where specified
  • Inspection of reservoir internals and hydraulic connections
  • Cleanliness verification according to the approved system requirement
  • Sealing and protection of hydraulic ports after testing
